Job Description Summary

  • The (Senior) Data Engineer is responsible for creating data pipelines and delivering data integrations with various cloud and on-premise technologies in the manufacturing domain.
  • The individual will work on a cross-functional team, which often include individuals from different business unit such as Production, Engineering, Operations, and IT, to identify, design, and deliver solutions to meet business needs.


Technical Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Translate business requirements into technical solutions including the creation of detailed work breakdown structures, planning, and execution
  • Requirements Analysis: Based on understanding of upstream & downstream systems, provide gaps assessment relative to requirements and technical feasibility of requirements(identify scope/assumption)
  • Design: Perform sampling of data to understand the character/ quality of the data Design: Prepare HLD and LLD documents
  • Development: Follow coding standards and best practices to develop code and check code quality
  • Test Management: Conduct/ guide conducting of unit and integration testing and fix defects
  • Deployment: Assess and create deployment/ roll back plan.
  • Support: Identify if the incoming request is a service request/ defect during the warranty or an incident; Operational/process improvement and preventative maintenance; by conducting issue/request management and maintenance, develop and implement resolutions that address the root cause of problems
  • Configuration Management: Maintain versions of the code or consolidate version maintained by the Developers
  • Knowledge Management: Create and update knowledge articles (case studies, lessons learnt) in the knowledge management repository


Travel Requirements: 

  • This role may require occasional travel to domestic and international sites


Requirements Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Math, or a related STEM Major.
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of related experience in data delivery within manufacturing environments
  • +5 years of experience using Microsoft SQL server Business Intelligence Development Studio (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI) and data warehouse management
  • +3 years of Business Intelligence level role in ETL(SSIS, Qlik Replicate), Analytics, Business Intelligence or Dashboards experience


Technical Knowledge/Skills Needed

  • Programing languages experience, such as C#, Java, Python, R, and SQL
  • Database fundamentals such as how data is stored in tables, relational database concepts, data manipulation language [DML], and data definition language [DDL]
  • Knowledgeable in various database types, such as Relational, NoSQL, Cloud, Disturbed, and Graph ETL tools and APIs
  • Application lifecycle management and associated software development lifecycles that are used in the development phase
  • Experienced working with IT systems operation in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Visualization tool implement experience (such as Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, Cognos . Etc)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing or ERP process and data would be plus


Non-Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Needed Effectively communicate clear and concise concepts, designs, and status to upper level management and low-level engineers/operations.
  • Self-motivated to address technical and nontechnical needs as they arise
  • Organize thoughts and ideas to ensure attention to detail is met
  • Manage multiple tasks to meet conflicting customer needs and schedules
  • Deliver results to customer and team to meet business objectives
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Good English & Chinese communication in speaking, writing and presentation, TOEIC 550 and above(able to work and conference call with global team with collaboration)
  • Experience of working in global company and interaction with global team, co-work with members with different culture/working model.(non-mandatory)
