Purpose of the Position: The plant HR Manager ensures the right talent is in place to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results and ensuring that the plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence for the assigned client groups to include the Bedford/Woburn, Massachusetts plant and Division Quality group based out of in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The HR Manager cultivates and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values while providing optimal level of HR service and delivery in support of business goals and objectives. Partners closely with plant, division, and corporate leadership to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines while also ensuring the optimal balance in support of our employees, the business, and the company interests. This role is based in Bedford MA and requires travel between the 3 Massachusetts sites – Bedford, Woburn, and Tewksbury.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Consistent multi-site deployment of HR strategies.
  • Coordinate and calibrate efforts with HR colleagues and leadership across multiple-sites and the business unit to build processes in support of the vision of "one complex" as there are other plants in the same location operating under corporate policies.
  • Develop and deploy people movement and recruiting strategies in collaboration with HR and operations leadership across all sites
  • Manage the selection, recruitment, and orientation processes within the assigned client groups
  • Develop site-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with applicable laws, and regulations
  • Partner with Division HR and plant/group leadership to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables recruitment and retention of needed talent.
  • Effectively deploy HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals and required levels of client support
  • Collaborate closely with Division HR to understand and implement HR programs that drive standardization across the division while ensuring plant business needs are met
  • Function as the voice of the plant customer to HR to ensure that the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of plant business objectives.
  • Educate plant management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment through plant management and supervisors.
  • Resolve employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the need to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Establish and maintain a presence at each site and on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
  • Implement appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws across all sites.
  • Lead and/or take responsibility for and plant/group HR projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in division projects and initiatives.
  • Fully responsible for talent review and employee surveys and action planning for the plants.


Education & Experience:

  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience
  • >3 years progressive experience in the HR function required
  • HRCI or SHRM Certification highly desired
  • Manufacturing and union/labor relations experience strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • This role is based in Bedford MA and requires travel between the 3 Massachusetts sites – Bedford, Woburn, and Tewksbury.
