Role Purpose:

  • Ensures client group has the right number and type of talent required to execute division strategy and achieve desired business results
  • Ensures client group realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence required to execute division strategy and achieve desired business results
  • Ensures client group establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values
  • Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of business objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery
  • Scales the type and level of HR service provided to client groups in anticipation of the specific needs of the division’s business portfolio and in conjunction with the business strategy
  • Ensures the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the client group


Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes current and future talent requirements of the client which could affect achievement of client group operational objectives
  • Partners with Division HR Director and client business team to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables them to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Partners with Division HR Director to take actions required to address talent gaps, ensuring the division has the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Partners with client group to identify and implement targeted client group and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
  • Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within client group to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
  • Holds client managers and leaders accountable for establishing and maintaining a positive work environment
  • In partnership with Division HR Director, identifies the client group’s human capital priorities and the type and level of support required from HR to effectively address these priorities
  • Effectively deploys HR shared service delivery model in support of HR goals and required levels of client support
  • Collaborates closely with regional HR Managers to ensure standardization across the business to fully support achievement of division business objectives
  • Coaches client management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to establish and maintain a positive work environment

Preferred Background/ Experience:

  • Successful track record of performance in an entry level HR role (generalist or specialist)
  • Work experience in manufacturing or other front-line setting (HR or non-HR)
  • Successful track record in the collection, analysis and use of data to improve a process/product
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies
  • 5-7 years of combined HR experience (generalist/specialist combined)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in related area and/or HR certifications– a plus


Specific Position Requirements:

  • Provide Generalist support for Division HR Director, AGS. Position will be responsible for supporting critical business initiatives and client groups as well as division wide HR programs and process improvement.
  • Lead deployment and change management activity for division HR programs to include plan development, deliverables, communications and training. Partner with AGS and Auto MAP HR team as appropriate to ensure alignment.
  • Provide analysis in support of driving division talent agenda and effective succession planning. Manage HR dashboard metrics and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Partner with hiring managers and recruiting COE on job openings and internal movement in support of AGS staffing plans.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent analytical skills – strong working knowledge of excel; ability to evaluate data, determine trends and provide recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently; demonstrates ability to be flexible in dynamic work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively engage with all levels in the division; build/leverage an effective network to move work forward.
  • Motivated, dependable, proactive business partner who can operate with minimal supervision.
  • High integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information; commitment to Corning Values in day to day work.
  • Proficient with Corning HR systems (i.e. True Blue) as well as basic software programs: Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Minimal travel required if necessary
