Purpose of the Position:

As part of a larger team, the Data Analyst will work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Commercial business units, such the Gorilla Glass organization, to support their advanced analytic data strategies and implementation of solutions using Information Technology’s (IT) standard digital platforms and tools. Over time it is expected that the Data Analyst will develop a deep understanding of the key systems across each of the supported business units, including but not limited to, their data structures, architecture, and data flows. In addition to an understanding of the relevant systems, the Data Analyst is expected to internalize the relevant business unit goals, challenges and known barriers impacting the achievement of those goals.

 

The Data Analyst will use knowledge gained regarding business goals, changes and / or barriers to anticipate future requirements.   The Data Analyst will identify areas where IT department can deliver more value to the business as well.   

As part of the overall need for IT to manage change, the Data Analyst role will also be key to understanding the root cause(s) behind resistance to user adoption and the development of required strategies that can be used to mitigate that resistance and increase overall business value.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze, facilitate, model, and organize data across systems to reconcile conflicts, and distinguish solution ideas from business needs.
  • Serve as technical liaison to business owners, to IT system owners, and the development teams.
  • Requirement gathering.
  • Coordinate and facilitate user testing.
  • Support business owner(s) to develop platform roadmaps from a data perspective.
  • Understand and anticipate how business needs in their daily operations, e.g., forecast, planning, demand/supply analysis, and market trends can shape business models and strategies.
  • Assist in business Change Management activities.
  • Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of the project/program lead while suggesting mitigation approaches to achieve one or more solutions.
  • Support the scrum process by completing tasks as needed to support the completion of sprints.
  • Maintain continuous personal learning and development to remain technological relevancy in current and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Data Analyst’s Supervisor

 

Education & Experiences: 

  • Bachelor's degree or significant level of experience in data engineering.
  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing roles is an advantage
  • Knowledge of process mapping and techniques is a benefit

 

Required Skills:

  • Previous business and/or systems analysis experience in supply chain, commercial, manufacturing processes (MES /SAP/ Production systems and control systems)
  • Operating in an Agile software development environment with tools such as Jira, AWS or Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to influence stakeholders and drive outcome.
  • Organizational skills to manage complicated tasks.
  • Presentation skills to provide clear message to leadership and/or stakeholders.
