Scope of Position:

  • Lead the Production Planning team to develop valid, feasible production schedules for the CET Light Duty Automotive manufacturing operations in the Erwin, NY facility. Schedule production in the most efficient and cost-effective way based upon equipment, labor, and inventory availability.
  • Coordinate the supply of work in process inventory to the finishing production lines to eliminate non-value-added activities including cues, transportation, and storage.
  • Review upstream and downstream production processes and coordinate with other planners/schedulers to ensure the right inventory is available when needed to meet customer order requirements.
  • Review and analyze the monthly commercial demand forecasts to understand any impacts to production planning.
  • Participate on teams focused on process improvements in the manufacturing operations. Act individually to identify opportunities for process improvement in production operations and initiate recommendations through the Kaizen system.
  • Identify slow moving inventory and make recommendations for its disposition. Communicate findings in inventory review meetings in addition to commercial and finance departments.
  • Present summaries of key information at monthly Planning and Scheduling Review meeting.
  • Participate on new product introduction teams.
  • Maintain the Planning MRP system including loading of forecasts, item master maintenance, BOMs, and routings.
  • Complete reports and update department key performance metrics.
  • Set objectives for the Planning team consistent with the plant’s key initiatives.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations/Supply Chain Management or other related field.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a fast-paced Supply Chain environment with supervisory responsibilities.

  • Experience in the concepts, application and tools of production and inventory management – managing the complete flow of materials into, through and out of the plant.
  • Planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Data driven – gather and analyze complex data from multiple resources and present the data in a useful manner to make decision.
  • Problem solving, strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Has methodical and logical approach.
  • Ownership of tasks and small projects.
  • Ability to negotiate and develop win-win solutions.
  • PeopleSoft or other MRP/ERP packages.
  • Microsoft office (Excel-pivot tables, v-lookup, Word, Exchange, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Comprehensive PC skills, particularly spreadsheet and database applications.

 

Desired Skills:

  • APICS CPIM/CSCP certification, MRP/ERP experience, Corning CET Environmental business knowledge, understanding of LEAN concepts.
