Scope of Position:

In this role, you will drive the definition, development, and communication of key metrics and reporting to support operational excellence and identify biggest opportunities for the business to advance and improve. You will be joining an exciting, newly formed Analytics Center of Excellence for the Corning Life Sciences division. Our mission is to add value to the business by driving key metrics, analyses, and reporting for the business globally. 


A successful candidate will have a track record of fully owning analytical projects end to end starting with collecting and driving requirements through developing reports with a wide variety of internal stakeholders. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, they will want to dig deep into available data sources, underlying processes that generate it, as well as the tools and techniques to advance the way Corning Life Sciences capitalizes on data.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Drive business analytics as part of the CLS Digital Transformation program as well as support division improvement projects.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive process optimization and quality improvement.
  • Make recommendations for new metrics and/or analysis techniques to improve business performance and better serve our customers.
  • Define the data elements and data structure required to enable reporting.
  • Partner with TCDT (Corporate Digital Transformation) team to more efficiently deliver data contextualization and visualization to reach audience of varied data literacy levels.
  • Contribute to data reporting operational best practices to allow tools and techniques to scale.
  • Prepare and deliver analyses and insight reviews to senior leadership.
  • Work with IT, the data warehouse, external data partners, and self-developed databases to enable the appropriate capture, storage, data visualization and analysis of key data elements.
  • Enable effective decision making by identifying, retrieving, and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable structure and format.
  • Stay current with the evolving technology and analysis techniques.

Travel Requirements:

  • 10%, not regularly, could be domestic or international.


Hours of Work/Work Schedule:

  • Job location is Tewksbury, MA.
  • Hybrid Role: 3 days per week in office.   
  • Standard business hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. 


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Research, or related discipline.


Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in statistics, analytics, and/or business intelligence.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with SQL or other similar relational database query languages.


Required Skills:

  • Strong statistical knowledge including descriptive and inferential statistics, designed experiments, regression and correlation analysis, measurement system analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization and tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, R, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
  • Experience displaying complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and presenting findings clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with IT, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, data subject matter experts, Data Engineers, and other Analysts to mine the right data sources efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent organizational skills including prioritization of multiple concurrent projects while still delivering timely and accurate results.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller deliverables that add value.
  • Business Acumen.


Desired Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or another quantitative field.
  • Experience applying analytical methods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma principles and statistical techniques.
  • Experience with real-time data generated by OSI-Pi, Camstar or other manufacturing execution system (MES) related solutions.
  • Experience developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines for processing raw data.
  • Experience and/or interest in data science, machine learning, or predictive analytics.
