The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. Human Resources Manager Hagen

Location: Hagen / Germany


Scope of Position:

Assure Corning´s 1HR strategy execution: Right person - right place - right time.


  • HR manager for plant Hagen - a Corning location with about 200 employees - and business partner for the plant manager and the plant staff
  • Responsible HR manager for locations Hagen and office location in northern Bavaria
  • Responsibility for the payroll team who prepares and runs payroll including tax & social insurances & data steward duties for all OC Germany locations
  • Partnership with all hierarchy levels on business and HR side locally, within country and EMEA wide
  • Ensure a collaborative work relation with the local works council and the German works council
  • Support the client group in establishing and maintaining a positive work environment including Corning’s Values and the Code of Conduct
  • Assist in achieving the budget objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery
  • Scale the type and level of HR service provided to client groups in anticipation of the specific needs of the division’s business portfolio and in conjunction with the business strategy
  • Ensure the successful implementation and execution of global HR business processes
  • Drive training, development of talents and employer branding initiatives


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prioritize the plant´s current and future talent requirements which have an impact on the operational objectives
  • Cooperation with the worker's council
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team and the hiring managers to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition
  • Co-operate with managers to identify employees’ development gaps and implement targeted development plans that addresses these gaps in a timely manner
  • Maintain performance management and reward processes / practices to drive required levels of employee accountability for performance results and ensure retention of talents
  • Point of contact for all topics around employee relations including works council
  • Coach managers and supervisors in developing, implementing and maintaining a positive work environment
  • Manage training and development activities including training needs analysis, training plan development and deployment.
  • Manage & maintain programs to support a strong talent pipeline


Travel Requirements: EMEA – 10% of time


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organization Development, labor relations or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in related area and/or HR certifications is a benefit.


Required Years and Area of Experience: Several years of HR experience; preferred in a Manufacturing environment; experience in an international company.


Required Skills:

  • Fluent in English and German (verbal and written)
  • Fundamental knowledge of German labor law and co-determination
  • Solid understanding of German social insurance system related to payroll & tax
