 SCADA / Industry 4.0 Engineer

 

 

Purpose of Position: Serve as an Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS) Engineer for the Corning Optical Communications Division Engineering team driving digital transformation (Industry 4.0), new equipment & system introductions, process improvements and cost reduction projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, document, implement, and maintain essential Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for automated manufacturing equipment
  • Interface automated manufacturing equipment with manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Provide appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to SCADA systems and manufacturing data systems
  • Providing engineering technical expertise to ensure the operational reliability of SCADA systems
  • Work with automation equipment vendors to design/document equipment interface specifications
  • Solicit and document Voice of Customer from manufacturing sites
  • Collaborate with Process engineering to determine and provide process data to data historians at appropriate time intervals

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge of SCADA (GE iFix, Ignition, or similar) and control systems and components
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) like S7, Beckhoff, Allen Bradley
  • Extended skills in MS Visual Studio (C#, VB)
  • Experience integrating automated manufacturing equipment with plant Information Management Systems (IMS)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and plan activities, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to generate and communicate high level flow charts for process and data flows
  • Good English skills in written and verbal form
  • Ability to travel globally (25%)
