Scope of Position:

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced analytical chemist in the fields of separation science and mass spectrometry. Extensive chromatography (HPLC, GPC, and GC) and mass spectrometry (EI, quadrupole mass spectrometry) experience is required as is demonstrated experience in instrumental maintenance and repair. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the application of the previously described analytical techniques in the analysis of polymeric and polymer additive materials. Some supervision and travel (U.S) (<10%) may be required.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of materials, processes, and products related to furthering the CPT business group
  • Will act as the laboratory’s liaison to the Pharmaceutical Technologies directorate and communicate findings and additional analysis requests to the rest of the team
  • The individual will initially focus on the use of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry in support of ongoing research but migration into gel permeation chromatography and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry to some degree is anticipated, as is into other areas of the mass spectrometry lab.
  • Understanding in the repair and maintenance of the instrumentation being used for these purposes is expected.

 

Travel requirements (please note if international): Less than 5% initially but could change as production group is building a facility in North Carolina.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

Full time. Flex time is a core belief as well with typically core hours being 9-3 and other hours being flexible but, of course exceptions can be made for the right individual.

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration):

B.Sc. with 1-3 years’ experience working in a research, development, or production setting.

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates must possess):

Chromatography, mass spectrometry, Microsoft Office suite

 

Desired Skills (these are the skills that would be nice for candidates to possess):

Experience working in a team-oriented environment. Experience in a customer service-based organization.

 

Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):

Marketing yourself, presentations in a research organization
