Role Purpose:

  • Support the HR team and plant leadership business partnership to align with HR objectives and initiatives to execute the business strategy.
  • Ensure the administration of HR programs / processes / policies, establish and reinforce Corning Values and positive work environment, while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • This position would help support the Salt Lake City, UT; Woodland, CA; and Murphysboro, IL facilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the plant HR manager to ensure that all sites have the right talent to execute the plant’s strategy and achieve desired business results.
  • Coach and counsel plant management in development and demonstration of leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Establish and maintain a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
  • Assist in successful implementation of global HR business processes in the plants.
  • Ensure plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Effectively manage the hiring process for all hourly and temporary employees and assist in diversity and inclusion efforts for all facilities.
  • Take ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and or delivering HR programs (e.g. attendance tracking, training, and employee communications).
  • Effectively manage AAP processes.
  • Recommend areas for standardization of HR programs / processes / policies, as appropriate, to reduce complexity of administration and associated costs.
  • Build HR reputation through value-added interactions with customers.
  • Responsible for analysis and reporting of data contained in the HR systems.
  • Tracks and documents employment issues and requests (e.g., FMLA, workers compensation) as required for procedural and legislative purposes.
  • Provides voice of the customer feedback on HR programs / processes / policies and ease of use.
  • Support hourly compensation and performance management processes including talent development plans, performance reviews, and discipline processes.
  • Completes data steward responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Travel Requirements: Travel to support each facility as needed (estimated 10%)

 

Preferred Background/Experience:

  • 0 - 3 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Labor Relations or equivalent. Master’s degree in related area and/or HR certifications– a plus.
  • Successful track record of performance working in Manufacturing environment.
  • Successful track record of performance as a Plant HR Specialist, Generalist or Center of Excellence (COE) role.

  • Must be willing to flex schedule on occasion to ensure coverage of shifts and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across cultures, payrolls, etc.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Successful track record in the administration of HR or Business processes or programs.
  • Successful track record in fast-paced work environment (taking initiative, working independently & handling multiple priorities).
  • Knowledge of hourly selection processes.
  • Proficiency with the Time and Attendance System, Kronos.
