Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Purpose:

 

As an AI / ML Engineer specializing in M4.0 (Industry 4.0), you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced machine learning models and AI solutions tailored for the manufacturing and industrial sectors. You will work with a feasibility development team to assess and develop capabilities that are suitable for operational deployment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to understand business objectives, gather and preprocess data, build models, and deploy them into production environments. Your expertise will help us harness the power of AI and ML to drive innovation and efficiency in the Industry 4.0 landscape.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and AI solutions for Industry 4.0 applications, such as predictive maintenance, quality control, and supply chain optimization.
  • Work with a feasibility development team to assess and develop AI/ML capabilities, ensuring they are suitable for operational deployment.
  • Collaborate with global data scientists, software engineers, and industry experts to understand business objectives and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets from industrial sources to extract relevant features and insights.
  • Build, train, and optimize machine learning models using state-of-the-art techniques and tools.
  • Deploy ML models in production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance, and continuously improve models based on feedback and new data.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and Industry 4.0 technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Document processes, training, methodologies, and findings, and present results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders globally.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement AI-related projects and initiatives for the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with computer vision techniques and tools such as OpenCV, YOLO, or Mask R-CNN.
     
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
  • Proficiency in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis (e.g Databricks).
  • Knowledge of various machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for deploying and scaling machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a global team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with global teams and stakeholders.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies and applications, such as IoT, AI robotics, and automation.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Experience with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or published research in the field of AI/ML, computer vision, and Industry 4.0.
