Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

 

 

Role Purpose

The EH&S Intern will support the implementation, execution, and follow-up of the 2026 annual HIRA Program, aligned with the GSS013 Hazard Identification methodology.

This role is responsible for coordinating risk-assessment sessions, supporting the technical quality review of HIRA records, managing resulting action plans in Gensuite, and providing reliable status information to the EH&S team and management.

The position contributes to the timely identification of hazards, evaluation of operational risks, strengthening of preventive controls, and visibility of open actions and priority risks requiring management attention.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Support Environment, Health & Safety activities and initiatives within the assigned site or department.
  • Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments, and documentation of preventive controls.
  • Coordinate meetings, gather information from different areas, and document agreements and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate records, trackers, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Follow up on assigned action items, responsible owners, due dates, and implementation evidence.
  • Monitor open and overdue actions and communicate relevant updates to the EH&S team.
  • Prepare basic reports and summaries on safety performance, risks, pending activities, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support data analysis to identify recurring risks, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Follow company EH&S procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable safety standards.

 

 

 

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Currently studying Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (required).
