IT Intern

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives and IT projects within engineering and operations. Assist in creating documentation, process manuals, and reports for business units. Gain hands-on experience in project management, IT support, and digital tools to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing IT and digital transformation projects, including planning, development, testing, and go-live phases.

• Create and maintain documentation, process manuals, and reports for business units.

• Support workshops, training sessions, and change management activities.

• Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and maintain network systems and devices.

• Conduct research on industry trends and best practices in digital transformation.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy innovative solutions.

• Shadow experienced IT professionals to gain practical knowledge and improve technical skills.

Required Education

Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Systems Engineering IT, Business Engineering, Development Engineering, Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft O365 and IT infrastructure.

• Familiarity with digital tools and technologies (IoT, data analytics, automation).

• Coding experience in R, Python, SQL, or similar languages.

• Strong communication and presentation skills.

• Project management and documentation abilities.

• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and collaborate effectively in teams.
