Role Purpose
The Manager, Demand Planning Process Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a critical member of the Center of Excellence (COE), serving as an expert in global process standards for demand planning processes. This role focuses on ensuring that the organization is using the most efficient, scalable, and accurate demand planning techniques. The SME works closely with the Sr. Manager, Demand Planning Excellence, providing expertise in process optimization, tool utilization, and best practice implementation. The SME partners with technical SAP IBP super users & IT teams to improve end-user planning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert for design and development of demand planning processes, offering insights and recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Process Standardization: Ensure that all demand planning activities across the organization adhere to standardized processes and frameworks.
- Demand Review: Drive the design, deployment, and optimization of the Demand Review sub-process within the Integrated Business Planning cycle
- Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for demand planning, using these metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Segmentation: Leverage and enhance segmentation methodologies to facilitate exception-based decision making and improve planning efficiency
- Tool Optimization: Maximize the use of demand planning tools and software by continuously evaluating performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and coaching to demand planners and cross-functional teams on best practices, new tools, and updated processes.
- Change Management: Lead the adoption of new demand planning processes and tools, ensuring smooth transitions and high levels of user engagement.
- Collaboration with Technology Teams: Work closely with IT and data teams to ensure that demand planning tools are effectively integrated into the broader systems landscape.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field with 8+ years of experience in demand planning, process improvement, or supply chain analytics.
- Strong technical knowledge of demand planning software and systems (e.g., SAP IBP, Kinaxis, Oracle, OMP, O9, etc.). SAP IBP preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in statistical forecasting and demand sensing.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement and change management initiatives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical processes into actionable insights for stakeholders.
