Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Manages supply chain from end-to-end (supplier to customer) to enable sustainable competitive advantage. Defines and executes division supply chain strategy aligned with business strategy (commercial, technology, manufacturing, quality, supply management) at a plant, small business or site level. Works proactively with cross-functional teams to meet business needs, improve customer satisfaction and supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates and improves overall supply chain process and systems to enhance supply chain effectiveness between supplier, customers and Corning
- Creates lean, end-to-end supply chains to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders to customers in the most cost-efficient way
- Balances manufacturing capacity and production schedule with customer demands
- Supports commercial group to create effective supply chain processes with customers and resolve any customer issues
- Links the Commercial strategy to the Manufacturing strategy
- Works directly with customer organization to enhance supply chain effectiveness between customer and Corning
- Works with manufacturing team or external vendor to ensure product delivery, quality and cost
- Collaborates with product development team, supply management, logistics, trade compliance, legal, etc.
- Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers
- Creates development plans with direct reports, aligned with business, product, and individual development needs
- Develops short-term supply chain operations plans consistent with long-term objectives
- Insures all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines and local regulations
- Tracks, communicates, and supports key metrics to achieve product team goals and objectives
- Leads cross-functional project team meetings
- Creates and executes budget for supply chain logistics.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's Degree (Technical, Business or Supply Chain).
- Minimum 5 years supply chain experience across multiple disciplines and increasing project responsibility.
- Global work experience, working across regions and cultures.
- Experience leading or participating in cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership skills.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Master's in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
- Certified Production & Inventory Manager (CPIM).
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
- LEAN or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with Corning’s Supply Chain Model (Demand Planning, Sourcing, Supply Planning & Execution, Logistics, Network Planning, Contract Manufacturing).
