Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Position Overview 
Coordinate and execute the activities of the Corning Austin site related to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) as well the physical building systems – mechanical, electrical, communications, etc. 


Job Duties 
•Coordinate facilities maintenance and lab maintenance vendor activities – Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, chilled water, communication, etc. 
•Lead EHS programs on site – Job Safety Analysis, incident tracking, investigation, and follow-up •Manage safety equipment – fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, eye wash, etc. 
•Work with corporate resources to administer and/or lead training for: Contractor safety orientation, LOTO, Hazardous materials, spill clean-up, Safety, Emergency response team, emergency drills, etc. 
•Act as a liaison with Divisional and Corporate Safety Management services. (assessment, audits, and inspections) 
•PPE Management (purchase, stock management) 
•Co-leader of the Emergency response team (ERT) and assist in bi-annual training. 
•Support remote IT group in management of local IT systems – escort vendors, distribute equipment, etc. 
•Coordinate shipping and receiving to building 
•Coordinate housekeeping activities – provide direction to contract custodian. 
•Coordinate site security activity – local direction to contract security guards, maintain cameras, building alarm system, etc. 
•Collect, analyze and present legally required data. Coordinate reporting system such that all legally required documents are filed correctly and in a timely manner. 
•Manage collection, handling, recording and shipment of hazardous waste. 


Required Education: 
Years and Area of Experience: 
•HS Diploma Required plus 3 years of experience in EH&S, Building Maintenance, Facilities or related fields; OR Associates Degree and minimum 1-year

experience in EH&S, Building Maintenance, Facilities or related fields 


Preferred Education / Experience 
•Bachelor’s Degree or Associates degree in building / technical field 
•Preferred, 3 – 5 years experience in Environmental, Health & Safety, Building Maintenance or other relevant experience a plus. 


Required Skills:

•Demonstrated drive and commitment 
•Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks as necessary 
•Ability to work independently in a dynamic, business/manufacturing environment 
•Computer literate in MS Office 
•Fluent in English (plus Spanish preferred) 
•Strong oral and written communication skills 
•Mechanical aptitude – Basic knowledge of building / mechanical systems
