As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

 

 

Position Purpose:


Works within the Biocoat and/or Reagents areas, manufacturing biological products—primarily Matrigel—using well-defined automated and manual processes to ensure products meet required specifications.

 

 

The position includes significant duties, such as:     

 

  • Performs coatings of all standard biocoat products.
  • Makes buffers and sets up production runs. 
  • Prepares and tests tissue fractions.
  • May assist in quality control testing on a variety of products.
  • Performs cell isolations, culture, and cryopreservation of primary cells and/or cultured cell lines.
  • Interacts with Quality Assurance to identify non-conformance issues.
  • Manufactures products using centrifugation, buffer extractions, filtration, and dialysis methods.
  • Assembles kits and performs simple vialing and media production.
  • Uses ERP system to perform production transactions.
  • Participates in other plant activities including Kaizens and 5S blitzes.

        

Working Conditions:   

Work is performed in clean rooms, general laboratory spaces, and cold rooms ranging from 2°C to -8°C.
Use of specified personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all applicable areas.
Frequent lifting and movement of materials up to 50 pounds.
Handling of hazardous materials may be required in a controlled environment.

 

Education: 

 

High School Diploma or GED required.

 

 

Experience:          

 

1-3 years experience required working in a laboratory, life sciences environment.

 

The range for this position is ​$31.00 hourly rate - $34.50 hourly rate.  

Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
