Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Major Responsibilities (Ongoing Tasks)

  • Engage with external customers and value chain (VC) players to understand market, customer, and competitors’ technology innovation trend and unmet needs.
  • Major focus in China and Taiwan but will also support customer / VC engagements in Japan, Korea, US and EU when necessary.
  • Develop monetary value propositions of innovation products or concepts via clear understanding on industry and customer’s unmet needs at system levels, competitive alternative, and cost modeling.
  • Develop pricing or commercial deal strategy for innovation programs.
  • Conduct business case analysis and make recommendation for leaderships to make critical business decision on innovation.
  • Develop commercial strategy for innovation programs and drive commercial execution by closing working with account teams and cross-functional teams.
  • Support innovation program manager to develop business model options which enables the creation of sustainable profit.
  • Support market analytics to understand the size of opportunities (market / sales forecast).
  • Closely work and align with Corning internal cross-functional resources, including but not limited to regional account teams, Commercial Technology team, R&D teams, legal team, Engineering, supply chain and financial teams.


Job Specifications – Qualifications

Education level required (qualifications and disciplines)

  • Bachelor or Master degree in science or Engineering is a MUST, since this role requires deep understanding and heavy learning on customer’s technology roadmap, new product or process developments
  • Highly welcome candidate with MBA or business school related education background.



  • Minimum of 5 years track record of customer interfacing experience in commercial, application engineering, or commercial technology roles.
  • Experienced in product or project management. 
  • Highly welcome candidates with consulting firm working experience, especially who ever involved clients’ technology, innovation, or new business development strategies.
  • Welcome candidates with strategy planning, new business development, marketing, pricing, or chief of staff experience to join us.


Knowledge, Skills and Competencies


  • Knowledge in display or semiconductor industrial advanced technology or product roadmaps.
  • Knowledge in marketing analytics and business model methodologies.   
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong problem-solving thought process such as KT, 7S, DAMIC, or MCE, etc.

  • Strong ability to articulate technical data, new product / technology concepts and strategies with concise storytelling and logic.
  • Quick learner on new technology and market / competitor intelligence; ability to generate meaningful insights for leaderships to understand the implications to our company.
  • Strong analytical capability while dealing with data / numbers with uncertainty; able to make reasonable assumptions while revisit the assumptions along the dynamic if early-stage innovation. 
  • Still project management capabilities / skillset.
  • Strong skills of using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint or other database management)
  • Must be fluent in English and Chinese (speaking and written communication)
  • Must be a good team player with strong and relentless communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to drive and influence the execution in highly matrix organization, even if without positioning power
  • Stay calm under difficult highly dynamic situations



  • Ability to network with internal cross-functional resources and external customer / value chain players with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to act decisively on complex and sometimes conflicting data.
