Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Purpose of the Position:

Position offers 2-4 in-depth, impactful rotations across areas of strategic value to Corning Display Technologies (CDT) over a period of up to two years, aiming to prepare incumbents for significant leadership positions. Successful candidates will receive executive-level coaching and mentorship and exposure to high-impact projects and initiatives.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

Incumbents to be rotated across 2-4 roles within CDT over a period of up to two years, with focus on the following functional areas:

Program Management:       

Lead cross-functional projects: define project issues/scope, set up project team and work module, manage project schedule, develop strategic options and communicate results to executives in a Steering Team.

  • Typical project topics include, but not limited to, customer/product strategy, technology/industry trend analysis, operation optimization, change management, etc.
  •  Use process rigor and effective cross-functional collaboration to ensure delivery of results
  •  Rely on problem solving skills, financial analysis, market and competitive intelligence, technical understanding to buttress strategy  New Business Development
  •  Monitor industry and technology trend, synthesize intelligence and distill insights, through research and by engaging with customers, value chain players, third-party experts etc.
  •  Recommend, assess and prioritize new business opportunities for CDT, using analytical tools, industry insights, and business acumen
  •  Develop business case analysis, define commercial and value chain strategies for prioritized new business opportunities, drive for alignment on direction and rally relevant resources
  •  Engage with customers and potential value chain partners to gather intelligence, implement strategy, and drive new business growth Market Analysis
  •  Build and use analytical models to predict market demand using sound assumptions and methodology.
  •  Assess the market for related and competing technologies and determine their expected impact on the industry/business
  •  Collaborate with Competitive and Value Chain Intelligence and others within Market and Customer Analysis to compare, contrast, and link market information to develop a full view of the market environment and dynamics Pricing
  •  Lead pricing strategy development or refinement for specific customers, considering competitive landscape, customer requirement, etc. Conduct analysis of pricing scenario impacts on Corning financials
  •  Work with sales team to implement pricing strategy, providing practical solutions to operational issues and advising customer communications
  •  Collect, maintain and analyze data from multiple internal teams and external sources (VOC) to develop pricing analysis and depict market dynamics Acting Chief of Staff to Executive
  •  Support an executive in critical strategic and operational decisions through analysis and communications support
  •  Represent and/or partner with the executive in select internal, cross-functional and/or external meetings


Preferred location of work: Taipei or Shanghai


Education & Experience

  • Education in a technical area of study China and/or Asia working experience with proven track record along with exposure in other countries (4 years+)
  • Experience working with multinational companies in strategy, business development or marketing management functions
  • Experience in Business-to-Business (B2B) technology industries


Required Skills

  • Strong analytic/problem-solving skills with experience in dealing with complex business issues
  • A good combination of strategic thinking and operational execution
  • Capable of senior management communication & engagement
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing project & people across functions and regions Strong interest ni technology areas, ability to engage in technology discussions.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese Desired Skills/experience MBA degree from a top-ranking school
  • Track record in business development for multinational companies
  •  Professional experience in a top-tier management consulting firm
