Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

 

Purpose of the Position:

The Multi Tenant Data Center (MTDC) and Hyper16 markets are further growing as the trend of customers moving into colocation rather than building own data centers continues. The position shall maximize sales for Corning Optical Communications in this segment in the EMEA region.

 

Location and Reporting:

The location will be preferably in Berlin or places with significant colocation data center business like Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam or Paris. The territory to be covered for this position will be EMEA. Travel will be at least 50% and the position will require the ability to work effectively with minimum supervision. The position reports to the Sales Director DACH, IBN/DC EMEA.

 

Responsibilities:

• Meet or exceed sales targets for MTDC / Hyper16 in EMEA

• Develop, document, implement and track account plans for specific MTDC/Hyper16 accounts; present progress updates to senior management on a regular basis

• Look after a couple of major MTDC / Hyper16 accounts as EMEA account manager herself/himself. For the other MTDC / Hyper16 accounts coordinate sales activities for EMEA with the local sales teams

• Coordinate the EMEA account strategies very closely with the Global Accounts / MTDC sales teams in the US

• Leverage entire MTDC / Hyper16 ecosystem (e.g. end-customers, distributors, integrators, consultants) to build a network that helps identifying opportunities early on

• Maintain project pipeline and account plans in SFDC-database and provide regular forecasts

• Establish and drive initiatives targeted at the MTDC / Hyper16 market together with the other internal functions (i.e. Marketing, Market Development, Product Line Management, Supply Chain Management and Operations) to improve our total value proposition for this market segment

 

Requirements:

• Technical University Degree or appropriate professional / sales experience

• Experience in developing new business and international experience preferred

• Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills

• A result-driven self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset

• Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision

• Very good organization skills and structured approach

• Excellent English skills; additional other language skills would be a plus

• Willingness for frequent international business travel (at least 50% of the time)
