Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical design of active optical engines including creation of electrical schematic drawings and PCB layouts
  • Verification of design through electrical (DC and HF) and optical measurements
  • Design and implementation of evaluation PCBs
  • Design and implementation of evaluation and/or test firmware and software
  • Collaboration with electrical design, process development, and subcontractors

Requirements:

  • Education and background in electrical engineering or similar field
  • Experience in the optoelectronics industry highly beneficial (transceivers, components or optical sensors)
  • Experience with laboratory equipment: oscilloscope, pattern generator, protocol analyser, optical measurement apparatus, and power supplies
  • Experience in and working knowledge of embedded electronics (microprocessors, firmware)
  • Programming skills in LabView and C/C++/C#
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout (e.g. Orcad/Allegro, Altium, or similar)
  • Familiarity with communication protocols used in consumer electronics and industrial applications (USB, Thunderbolt, HDMI, etc.)
  • Excellent English spoken and written,  German beneficial
  • Ability to work in cross-cultural and distributed teams
