Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


  • In this role, you will provide engineering support, maintenance, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects as well as first generation projects for the Harrodsburg Plant. Emphasis in Mechanical projects will involve usage of AutoCAD and SolidWorks design software also pneumatic controls solutions
  • Develop and build electrical and control system design solutions for proof of concept and pilot level equipment necessary for new product and process development
  • You will work to resolve technical issues and implement product or tool design improvements on production plastic injection tools through observation, evaluation and analysis
  • We are developing electronic instrumentation calibration procedures along with software and/or use applications to support manufacturing and analysis of equipment, products, processes, and experiments. You will also have the opportunity to design and support installation of electrical power distribution within the manufacturing facility
  • We need 5+ years’ experience in electrical design, debug, and testing of electro-optics systems


  •  Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, MSE, Ceramic Engineering., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Controls, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • Experience with major optical design software desired (e.g. CODE V, Zemax, LightTools, ASAP, etc.)
  • Capable of developing and executing experiments with laboratory hardware
  •  Industry experience in embedded C/C++ programming for design and development of wireless software including stellar debugging skills
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout (e.g. Orcad/Allegro, Altium, or similar)
  • Strong dedication and ability to conduct laboratory experiments in an industrial setting (experimental design, safety, data collection and analysis) and use data to solve problems
  • Excellent English spoken and written, German helpful
  •  Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact with all levels of the organization
