Director of Global Sustainability Reporting & Engagement (m/f/d)
Scope of position:
Director of Global Sustainability Reporting & Engagement What’s the work? Corning is a global innovator and manufacturer of advanced materials – including materials that can ameliorate global warming, mitigate disease, and connect disparate and underserved communities. This is a chance to work at the heart of Corning’s sustainability function. A new position, in this role you will lead the development and production of Corning’s regulatory and voluntary sustainability reporting, worldwide. You will be building new processes and systems to address newly applicable reporting regulations (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD, California, etc.), doing so with the support of and in collaboration with the Corporate Sustainability Controller, as well as sustainability professionals from the Corporate Sustainability Group, Law Department, Human Resources, and Global Supply Management.
You will also be developing and executing a strategy for voluntary sustainability reporting (e.g., ISSB1 and ISSB2 standards, CDP, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics, etc.). This work will bring you in touch with a well-established, tightly communicating, cross-company sustainability group, including sustainability representatives from each of Corning’s business groups and several relevant functions.
To perform your work, you will interact with most aspects of Corning’s global business, including our global manufacturing network, our world-class research and development labs, and our sales professionals that span a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, life sciences, automotive, semiconductors, and renewable electricity. Requirements:
- Ability and experience in (formally and informally) leading diverse teams effectively, including in situations with significant ambiguity.
- Concrete examples of personal initiative and diplomatically resolving issues through understanding conflicting views, achieving alignment, and proposing solutions.
- Intellectual curiosity – and an action-oriented drive to create continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements (in particular CSRD/ESRS, the EU Taxonomy, TCFD/IFRS and GHG Protocol – preferably also ISSB, CSDDD).
- Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies, benchmarking, and third-party raters/rankers.
- Proficiency in data analysis; prefer proficiency with sustainability management software (like Workiva) and ESG data platforms (like Persefoni or Gensuite).
- Understanding and experience with stakeholder engagement, impact, risk and opportunity identification, and materiality assessments.
- Excellent project management skills to handle multiple reporting initiatives, meet deadlines, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Clear and concise communication skills to convey complex sustainability information to various audiences.
