Junior Deal Desk Distribution Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to determine customer requirements and prepare Corning Optical Communications' quotations/bid proposals in response to RFQs.
  • Interact with Sales, Marketing, PLM, Pricing, Engineering, Customer Care and/or other departments as required to complete customer requests.  Communicate and drive deadlines for receipt of inputs. 
  • Have a deep understanding on the company’s objectives (revenues, profitability…) as well as the market and customer requirements in order to develop optimized pricing strategies for opportunities.
  • Assemble all information into a quality document for submission to the customer.  Ensure all points are clear and concise to prevent confusion or misinterpretation of quote or contract.
  • Ensure all RFQ deadlines and requirements are met to maximize Corning’s likelihood of being awarded the opportunity.
  • Awareness and ability to identify and prevent channel/market conflicts when processing RFQs.  
  • Process extensions and/or revisions for quotes and contracts within established guidelines
  • Coordinate responses for a region escalating pricing decisions when needed through to completion of the request.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a customer-facing role
  • 100% fluent in English; other languages a plus

Required Skills:

  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work under varying deadlines on multiple project proposals.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with external and internal customers. 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a track record of providing error-free work.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team environment with varying deadlines and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office Suite required.

Desired Skills:

  • SAP/ECC experience preferred.  Familiarity with Salesforce.com and proficiency in Excel a plus.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of Corning Optical Communications’ customers, markets and pricing.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to face new challenges and opportunities.
  • Display an enthusiastic desire and openness to adopt new processes, tools and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated participation in on-going improvement initiatives that benefit team, department and/or Corning.
