Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

System Engineer - AI Data Center Solutions (m/f/d)

 

Role Purpose

Do you want to help build the future of AI Data Centers? Join Corning as a System Engineer and become our expert for products and solutions across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa). You will work with customers and internal teams to design modern network solutions, solve technical problems, and bring new ideas to life. What You Will Do

  • Work with sales teams, partners, and customers to design solutions using Corning's products.
  • Prepare complete documentation for passive cabling systems in AI Data Centers, including network designs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Statements of Compliance, rack layouts, and visual guides.
  • Answer RFP/RFQ requests and advise customers on the best products for their needs.
  • Give technical support, training, and workshops to customers, installers, and partners.
  • Support customers before and after the sale: product advice, system design, installation training, testing, and troubleshooting on-site.
  • Write datasheets, technical papers, and customer replies.
  • Share feedback with the product team to help improve products and meet regional standards.
  • Help create new IT tools that make work easier and the team more efficient.

 

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • University degree in Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Telecom, Data Center, or structured cabling design.
  • Experience designing cabling solutions for Data Centers or LAN networks.
  • Experience creating technical documents (BOMs, datasheets, Statements of Compliance, RFP/RFQs).
  • Good communication skills — you can explain technical topics to both experts and non-experts.
  • Organized, able to meet deadlines, and confident with MS Office and Visio.
  • Fluent in English, plus French or Italian (Arabic or German is a plus).

 

Nice-to-haves:

  • Basic mechanical, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
  • Pre-sales experience with active and passive telecom networks and ICT backbones.
  • Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, Java, or Visual Basic.
  • Knowledge of international standards (CENELEC, ISO/IEC, TIA/EIA, IEEE) and Data Center active equipment (switches, servers, storage).

 

Other Information

 

Travel: Up to 25% of your working time, mostly in Europe. Some travel to Israel, the US, or Asia may be needed. You should be ready to travel on short notice, including overnight stays.

 

Requirements: Valid EU work authorization or citizenship and a valid driving license with clean record for renting cars when needed.
