Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Your Responsibilities
Management and Maintenance of Test Equipment:
Ensure the availability and functionality of test equipment.
Organize calibrations, repairs, and regular maintenance.
Create and maintain an inventory of test equipment.
Shipping of Test Equipment and Product Samples:
Coordinate the shipment of test equipment and product samples to internal and external partners.
Monitor returns and perform condition checks.
Ensure timely delivery and proper documentation.
Workplace Safety Coordination:
Act as a Workplace Safety Coordinator, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments for technical installations and workplace environments.
Develop and implement safety guidelines and procedures in collaboration with relevant teams.
Building and Evaluating Prototype Setups:
Assemble and wire prototype setups, such as distribution enclosures, primarily in the area of structured fiber optic cabling.
Evaluate the feasibility of new designs and assess the functionality of existing products in new applications.
Provide detailed feedback and recommendations for improvements.
Work closely with the Application Engineering team to refine product handling methods and procedures.
Review and Approval of Test Reports:
Review test data and reports for completeness and accuracy.
Approve reports in accordance with internal quality standards.
Collaborate closely with the Application Engineering team to optimize testing processes.
General Administrative Tasks for the Team:
Support the team with organizational and administrative tasks (e.g., scheduling, documentation, minute-taking).
Manage material orders and resources.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Your Profile
- Completed technical or commercial training, preferably with experience in test equipment, workplace safety, or technical administration.
- Familiarity with test equipment, prototype setups, and workplace safety standards is a plus.
- Structured and independent working style with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication abilities and a team-oriented mindset.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP and/or inventory management systems is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal proficiency in both German and English.
