Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
As a Working Student in Internal Controls with a focus on month-end close and SOX compliance, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment. You will work closely with the Internal Controls team on EMEA-specific tasks, ensuring financial accuracy, SOX compliance, and supporting internal and external audits. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting and develop essential skills for a career in finance, audit or compliance.
Responsibilities:
Month-End Close Activities:

- Perform monthly/quarterly/annual month-end close tasks for the EMEA region
- Prepare Intercompany sales reports
- Reconcile sales subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
- Review credit notes report
- Analyze shipment reports for compliance with customer contracts
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely month-end close and reporting
- Actively seek standardization and automatization
SOX Compliance:

- Periodically review SOX controls and account reconciliations for EMEA legal entities
- Maintain SOX documentation in the online reporting tool
- Update risk control matrices and business process narratives
- Cooperate with external and internal auditors, fulfilling their requests and providing support
Additional Tasks:

- Assist with ad hoc projects and analytics as needed
- Perform other administrative and support tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong academic background in accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel & Power BI for data analysis and reporting. Experience with Power Query, Databricks is an asset
- Familiarity with SAP and LongView (or similar accounting and reporting systems) is a plus
- Fluency in English, any other language skills being advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and ethical standards
