Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic working student to support our R&D team in the development of next-generation telecommunications products. The role has a strong experimental focus, particularly in metrology and measurement systems. This is an excellent opportunity for students who want hands-on experience in an innovative, technology-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Design and development of optical measurement systems and concepts
• Collaboration with the R&D team to explore innovative concepts and demonstrate proof-of-concept projects.
• Characterization of optical components
• Analysis and documentation of experimental data
Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's student in the field of Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, Optics/Photonics, or related disciplines
• Understanding of basic optical principles and technologies
• Experience in programming (e.g. Matlab, Labview, Python) and optical design (e.g. COMSOL, Lumerical, KLayout) are a plus
• Familiarity with optical characterization techniques and equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in data analysis and visualization using MS Excel, Matlab, or Python
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
