Scope of Position:  

The focus of this role is on process stability and equipment reliability in production. This role is within the cross-functional converting team and will proactively maintain line performance with shift technicians through process tuning and equipment repair/maintenance, as well as support engineer-led activities.

Day to Day Responsibilities:  

Production Stability and Performance: 

  • Responsible for performance on production lines and working with technicians and operators to preserve stable, high yield performance.  
  • Identify and resolve equipment issues, ranging from known maintenance needs to new, low frequency failures.  
  • Train Division Engineering and Plant technicians and operators.  
  • Support engineer-led process improvement activities from focused improvement portfolios.  
  • Support FAT, installation, and start-up of new equipment as needed (requires travel)

Travel Requirements:  

  • 20-30% travel  
  • Travel includes Germany and North Carolina in near term

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:  

  • 40-50 hours, Monday – Friday  
  • Potential for unscheduled overtime depending on line performance (will be included on call-in list for phone and onsite support) 
  • Scheduled weekend support throughout the year, on a rotating basis, as part of off-hours manufacturing support team (one of six converting reps)
  • Reporting Structure: Solid line reporting to Converting Engineering Manager

Education and Experience: (minimum required for consideration)  

  • 2-year Technical Degree  
  • 5 years of related experience

Required Skills: (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)  

  • Strong mechanical aptitude  
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting processes  
  • Manufacturing experience

Desired Skills: (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)  

  • Experience with Converting equipment and operations  
  • Working knowledge of controls systems  
  • Background in glass forming  
  • Machinist experience

Soft Skills: (Communication/Team/Leadership)  

  • Collaborative – works well in team environment  
  • Flexible – able to adapt during activities to maximize learning  
  • Communicator – bring issues and results up to entire team
