Scope of Position:

In this role, you will provide engineering support for job classifications that engage in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline within the Engineering/Manufacturing job family. We look for you to work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. We also look for you to figure out methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other personnel.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Work will include project and process activities.
  • Provide mechanical solutions to equipment, safety, and/or process challenges.
  • Applicants should have the ability to work in a team-based environment and be able to participate as an individual contributor.
  • Work under the direction of an engineer to: o Become familiar with manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Develop design concepts and drawings in CAD.
  • Work with vendors for component fabrication and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Assist in assembly of equipment.
  • Debut and solve problems on equipment. o Build prototype models and conduct experiments.
  • Support equipment debug and troubleshooting operations.
  • Support production and job changes on various lines throughout the plant.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10%.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Summer internship start: 5/28/2021  
  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.

 

Required Education:

  • Pending Sophomore, Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program in a Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology major.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of CAD programs (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Prior manufacturing or mechanical internship or experiences.
  • Familiarity with mechanical components and machining methods.
  • Basic statistical understanding.
  • Experience dealing with suppliers and other external partners.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Creative and technically curious.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Results oriented and high commitment level.
  • Effective communication & presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work on diverse project teams.
  • Ability to build new business relationships.
