Facilities and Maintenance Manager

Scope of Position:

Being part of a green field project; you will oversee the building construction and the installation of all utilities including electrical (Low/high), plumbing, heating, water treatment system, ventilation, clean rooms, air conditioning (HVAC), air compressor system, central surge bin, and other building systems.

You will build your own team with a wide set of skills and knowhow.

You will participate to the installation of production equipment which will be led by the engineering team. However, once commissioned, production equipment will be maintained by your team.

In a second time, you will lead the plant maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pre-emptive, multi-skilled maintenance service for all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.

We look for you to contribute to the creation and implementation of a maintenance vision and strategy which will improve operational performance for customer and facility assets.

You will negotiate and engage with your key partners to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy and lead department operational effectiveness ensuring that our Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to across all aspects of the facility.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Initially:

  • Lead the construction of the new factory along with the Developer (investor, builder, contractors) to ensure execution of the works in conformity with drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor the construction schedule. Anticipate and surface deviations. Find solutions to recover the gaps.
  • Ensure that the proposed design will allow long term operations and easy access for future maintenance.
  • Perform the commissioning of the building and its utilities.

 

Thereafter:

  • Lead change and provide directional guidance to create and improve the metrics, including equipment uptime, mean time between failure, downtime reduction, and driving rigor around compliance and strategies.
  • Prepare the annual Maintenance budget including forecasting all capital expenditure proposals which ensures compliance with legal standards; handle the budget from identification to completion of projects with alignment to overall 5-year maintenance plan.
  • Motivate and coach your team to operational success and ensure adequate staffing levels as well as ensure delivery of the people strategy within area of accountability.
  • Attend daily production meeting to cover key aspects of maintenance activities and weekly plant production planning meetings to ensure maintenance resource alignment to support customer job requirements
  • Ensure an effective interface is maintained with our other departmental staff and support department budgets.
  • Support effective and efficient utilization of resources – personnel and equipment

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 15%, to include international travel.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Standard business hours (Monday to Friday);
  • Overtime support as needed (Supporting a 24/7 facility)
  • Required Education and Area of Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance/facilities engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience

 

Required Skills: 

  • Experience in plant expansion project (building construction)
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as electrical, high voltage, HVAC, compressors, cooling towers, plumbing, water treatment.
  • Demonstrated Project Management Skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, SAP or similar software.
  • Fluent in French to discuss with local contractors.

 

Desired Skills

  • Experience in Injection Molding and Injection Stretch Blow Molding
  • Knowledge of Life Sciences products and technologies
  • Experience with high speed manufacturing processes
