The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

For our location in Budapest, Hungary, we are looking for a 

 

Sr. Specialist, Strategic Sourcing, Professional Services

 

Scope of Position:

Assists and/or leads with the development, communication, and execution of Global Supply Management (GSM) strategic sourcing strategies and plans to procure Marketing and/or Finance services in alignment with business objectives and strategies for assigned global commodities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Global Strategic Sourcing Manager, develops and/or assists with Strategic Sourcing plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and considering economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced. Works with the Marketing and/or Finance Stakeholders, GSSM, Buyers, and Coordinators on assigned categories to prepare for, develop strategies and tactics and conduct negotiations with suppliers to obtain maximum value.
  • May support additional categories if required.
  • Manages the relationship with internal and external stakeholders to achieve alignment on Corporate, GSM and business goals related to the managed category and suppliers.
  • Resolves contract, quality, payment or other supply/service issues with suppliers and end users when required.
  • Keeps the businesses and function informed regarding market conditions, suppliers, lead times, and shifts in pricing for strategic global commodity materials and services.
  • Thoroughly understands key commodity annual spend and performs spend analysis.
  • Develops and executes supplier management programs for strategic suppliers. Integrates technical and commercial feedback. Sets goals for improvement and track progress.
  • Leads assigned projects/initiatives, defines scope, timelines, risks and deliverables; drives execution, aligns with stakeholders, and ensures projects are completed on time and within agreed objectives.
  • Identifies process gaps and inefficiencies, develops data driven improvement initiatives, leads implementation to enhance sourcing effectiveness, supplier performance, compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Owns, manages and provides inputs for the
    1. Contributions Metrics system
    2. Risk Management system
    3. Supplier Performance system
    4. SOW & RFP management system
    5. eMDV (vendor approval system)
  • Ensures all business relationships follow appropriate corporate policy and governance requirements.
  • Leads and executes RFI's, RFP's, and RFQ's.
  • Evaluates competitive offerings via price/cost analysis to determine the overall best offering for a product or service.
  • Identifies cost reduction and/or cost avoidance opportunities and executes projects/initiatives to deliver cost savings.
  • Coordinates with Legal Department to develop legally defensible, accurate contracts that reflect negotiated product and service agreements and minimize risk to Corning.
  • Review supplier agreements, evaluate price quotations and create cost analysis.
  • Works with Corning Shared Services to ensure smooth transaction processes and resolve issues.
  • Leads negotiation of contract as they come due for renewal and/or are identified through project or operational work. In addition, minimizes Total Cost of Ownership and maximizes total value (quality, price, schedule, intellectual property, service, technology, etc.). Negotiates day to day resolution with suppliers.
  • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct.  Ensures compliance.
  • Under the guidance of the GSSM Corporate Services, executes and coordinates with local BSM Professional Services initiatives in EMEA

Required Experience:

  • Indirect services sourcing experience with multinational company (Professional/Marketing services experience would be advantageous)
  • 2+ years related work experience in business partner engagement / management, strategic sourcing, relationship management, and experience in an international organization.
  • Strong experience in commercial and contractual negotiations, driving contracts to signature, assuring legal and compliance alignments with corporate control functions. Understanding of Data Privacy compliance
  • Optimist and self-organized with a solid “Can-Do” Attitude
  • Strong team player, able to work in virtual, global teams in a dual reporting matrix organization

Required Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced knowledge in Category Management
