Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
This position is responsible for customer and technical engagement to named key accounts for Corning’s Photonics Connectivity Solutions business
Key Responsibilities
- Develop deep understanding of Corning’s optical communications products, including critical product specifications, manufacturing processes, and customer integration and use cases
- Support on-site field trials and customer product evaluations
- Perform training, troubleshooting and field support as needed to ensure successful customer adoption of Corning products
- Complete on-site investigations of potential product issues raised by customers
- Provide front-line support for customer inquiries related to a broad portfolio of existing products. Evaluate new inquiries against existing capabilities, coordinating with engineering and development resources as needed
- Provide commercial and technical support to the customer in response to product or process change requests, quality issues, and operational escalations in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with global customer account and business/regional leaders to develop relationships within customer’s engineering, development, and operations organizations, as well as collect market intelligence to understand competitive landscape, customer technology roadmaps and customer growth opportunities
- Analyze and articulate product performance including reliability, yields, risk assessments to improve business performance. Requires leading efforts to develop new methodologies, collect and interpret data, and report out to internal and external stakeholders
Required Education & Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or Applied Science
- Master’s degree (MS) in Engineering, preferred
- 5 years minimum of relevant work experience with optical fiber/ optical components and data center connectivity
- Customer engagement experiences at Architecture, Engineering and Lab Technician levels within data center and Enterprise environment
- Understanding of data center network topologies
- Practical understanding of high-density rack connectivity
- Technical writing ability, with emphasis on effective presentation of detailed concepts
- Ability to coordinate effectively within internal matrix functions
- Strong presentation and consultative skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to a given audience
- Desire to “roll up sleeves” to work directly with customers and internal project teams
- Process oriented with a systematic approach to problem solving
- Ability to work independently in a stressful environment

The range for this position is $126,916.00 - $174,510.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
