Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Responsible for pre- and post-sales support of PCS customers by ensuring successful technical positioning, ongoing engagements to get our products to be “designed-in” our customers’ own systems, deployments and adoption of our products. Requires close collaboration within the business team, Commercial Technology, and adjacent functions across the PCS business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Help the business team position our products through ongoing interactions with our customers, with the goal of being “designed-in” our customers’ own products or systems
- Support field trials and product evaluations
- Complete on-site investigations of potential product issues raised by customers
- Act as the primary means of field remediation to resolve quality issues at customer sites
- Support sales demonstrations/presentations at customer sites and trade shows
- Perform training, troubleshooting and field support as needed to ensure successful adoption
- Conduct product evaluations on both Corning and competitor products
- Actively pursue, obtain and report competitive information to Product Line Management, Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing
- Provide recommendations to Sales & Manufacturing to solve quality and/or field related issues
- Travel to manufacturing facilities when needed to share technical knowledge of product deficiencies witnessed in the field
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in optical fibers and connectivity
- Ease with frequent customer interactions at technical level, comprehend needs, convey value
- Work independently with little supervision
- Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external
Desired Experiences
- Technical writing ability, with emphasis on effective presentation of detailed concepts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products

The range for this position is $97,395.00 - $133,919.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
