Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise group is primarily optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Must be in Southwest US region.

 

Scope of Position:

  • Pre-sales support of Corning Optical Communications (COC) Wireless RAN and DAS products for all Carrier and Enterprise opportunities with the sales region.
  • Support includes customer meetings, opportunity development, DAS and RAN system design support, proposal activities, product education opportunities (tradeshows), and engagement with internal product management/development and marketing teams.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as an authority for sales team, customers, VARs/Partners, and Distributors in all phases of an opportunity lifecycle.
  • Partner with COC Territory Sales Managers, Carrier Sales Managers, Design Engineering and Product Management teams in pre-sales engagements, opportunity qualification and proposal activity.
  • Assist Customers and Partners in product, technology, and design related questions during the pre-sales phase of projects.
  • Provide educational seminars to Customers and Partners with focus on Corning Wireless equipment configurations, recommended practices and relevant tools/resources.
  • Engage with Product Development to define customer requirements and feature requests relative to current and future product portfolio
  • Use case analysis/comparison of new/existing/competitive products to resolve proper positioning within market.

 

Travel Requirements:

50% in support customer meetings/presentations in conjunction with Corning Telecom sales.

Hours of work/work/flextime: M-F, 8:30a – 5:00pm

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering or related discipline

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in wireless telecommunications field with experience as Product Manager, RF Engineer, Sales Engineer or related positions.

 

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of various RF Concepts (e.g. iBwave design, Link Budgets, Uplink/Downlink, RF planning, SINR etc.) and Wireless Technologies (e.g. LTE, 5G NR, LAA, CBRS, mmW, 802.11, etc.)
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Experience in direct support of sales selling in CxO level engagements
  • Work within an opportunity-centric team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, iBwave, Adobe
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Desired Skills:
  • Experience in targeting Wireless Carrier and / or Enterprise customers
  • Experience with RAN, LAN, WAN, IP, IPSec, Switching, Routing and other IP-based solutions and applications relative to business applications
  • Experience with structured cabling (e.g. RCDD)
