Role Purpose

This position will be instrumental in enabling and supporting the implementation of a new plant-wide ERP (Enterprise Resource Management) and support of the existing and future Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) aimed at bringing a growing plant from legacy, independent manufacturing systems to a robust, common systems platform across all plant businesses. 

 

This position will have responsibility for Plant MES administration, providing overall leadership for its proper use, maintenance, upgrades, etc. ensuring alignment with the ERP system

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as key member of cross-functional project team to ensure MES system requirements are properly defined, designed, tested, and implemented.
  • Cross-functional team includes: corporate system developers, business and IT program managers, plant manufacturing department leaders, process engineers, and hourly workforce leaders and associates. 
  • Learn from experts regarding fundamentals of system interface design; apply to later functionality as implementation team moves on and database evolution falls under purview of the plant
  • Provide overall long-term direction for proper use of ERP / MES, maintenance, upgrades, etc.
  • Monitor daily ERP/MES error log and responsibility for troubleshooting and fixing errors in ERP/MES systems with the goal of determining root cause to ensure permanent corrective actions are put in place
  • Ensure alignment of ERP master data between the 2 systems (MES & ERP) such as workflows and routers, production orders (status, quantities, dates, etc.), and master data like material tolerances
  • Champion MES needs to make manufacturing more efficient
  • Provide manufacturing with key reporting and data required to manufacture parts and track performance

Experiences/Education - Required

  • 2-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Development, Engineering or technical degree and/or similar skills and experiences with IT systems / software in a manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years in manufacturing or technical field
  • Ability to harvest data from multiple data sources and turn into informative spreadsheet, manufacturing report, or other tool that captures the essence of a manufacturing process in a meaningful, informative way  
  • Enjoys spending time on manufacturing floor interfacing with hourly workforce working to understand details of their daily challenges and working to create solutions that result in efficiency gains
  • Works collaboratively in a diverse team environment, possesses robust written and communication skills, can communicate effectively across numerous groups (project team, manufacturing floor, plant leadership, etc.), and enjoys building strong relationships
  • Experience with data visualization via Power BI and SharePoint
  • Hands-on project experience with demonstrated success
  • Experience harvesting data from multiple data stores via SQL or other
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in areas needed for the position that they may not know starting out

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Experience managing and supporting databases such as Microsoft SQL
  • Experience creating custom reports in Microsoft SSRS
  • Programming skills, including .NET, C#
  • Familiarity with OSI PI and OPC
  • Experience with Camstar and SAP

The range for this position is $51,884.00 - $71,341.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
