Role Purpose
- The Forming Department Manager is responsible for providing technical input and solutions for improving productivity and efficiencies in Forming, Reforming, Fluoride crystals, and the mason shop.
- This individual will be responsible for ensuring a motivated and skilled workforce and will directly supervise the department P&Ms, team lead, and A&T’s.
- The individual will be required to assess skills, write performance reviews and recommend and/or provide training to ensure department personnel are technically competent to perform assigned tasks in the facility.
- The Corning Canton facility is a continuous operations facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in fluoride crystals, reforming, forming, and the mason shop to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
- Establish priorities and works closely with Plant Engineering Manager, Plant Operations Manager, and the HR Manager to ensure the effective utilization of available resources.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
- Work with support functional groups to ensure manufacturing plans are executed per cost and schedule goals of the plant.
- Lead projects that support manufacturing needs.
- Oversee projects within their production departments to ensure critical path, milestones and objectives are met.
- Receives and gives work assignments with general instructions.
- Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
- Interact with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels - interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
- Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals.
- Encompasses the direction and inspection of the performance of individuals or a team of associates who put together components to make assemblies, subassemblies, or completed units, or make or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years in prior supervisory or military leadership experience
- Ability to lead multiple groups of teams to drive improvements
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to groups.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Supervisory experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage teams of 50+ direct reports.
- Union experience.
- Strong project management skills.

The range for this position is $118,428.00 - $162,839.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
