Role Summary
We are seeking a driven and innovative Mechanical Engineer to lead and support projects focused on the design, development, and optimization of equipment solutions for ceramics and glass processing, and high-temperature applications. The Mechanical Engineer role in Canton, NY focuses collaboration with R&D and external partners to deliver customized machinery solutions for advanced manufacturing. This role involves working closely with R&D teams to engineer customized systems that meet the specific needs of advanced manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with project teams to address complex mechanical and process equipment challenges, ensuring optimal equipment design solutions.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing machinery to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Develop detailed machine design specifications, manage budgets, and oversee the construction and installation of prototype and production equipment.
- Conduct proof-of-concept and prototype testing, analyze results, and provide engineering recommendations for improvements.
- Support system integration activities such as FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ start-ups, as well as staff training for process machines and material handling systems. Identification of critical parts, PM and document creation.
- Build expertise in tolerance analysis, component specification, process requirements, machine functionality, and material selection relevant to current projects.
- Coordinate effectively with external partners, including machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers—to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of equipment that meets performance criteria.
- Generate and update construction and installation drawings using 2D/3D CAD software, maintaining accurate as-built documentation per company standards.
Experiences/Education - Required
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering desired.
- 2–3 years of experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong foundation in materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design, enabling the development of cost-effective machine systems.
- Ability to design and execute experimental procedures, develop process insights, and construct prototype test systems.
- Knowledge of modern technologies such as electro-mechanical drive systems, fluid power, pneumatics, material handling, part sensing, and industry safety standards.
- Experience collaborating with outside machine builders and system integrators for the detailed design and implementation of machine systems.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience using engineering modeling and analysis software for mechanical system design, such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse teams and adapt to uncertainty, ambiguity, and organizational change.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate project progress to leadership and contribute to cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.
- 10% Travel may be required for equipment installation, debugging, start-up, and for routine engagement with customers and suppliers.

The range for this position is $68,503.00 - $94,192.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
