The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

Role Purpose:

Responsible for assured supply of materials, equipment, and services (on time, best price, high quality), in addition to competitive costs, minimizing inventories while ensuring optimum materials utilization, and supplier performance.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Site champion of the corporate Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance and educates/supports plant end-users for corporate procurement processes and systems.
  • Collaborates with GSM business supply managers and category managers to develop and execute strategic sourcing plans (short & long term) for the plant based on forecasts of future demand.
  • Identifies and drives cost reduction initiatives within the plant’s supply chain function and supports similar initiatives for the plant as a whole. In addition, collaborates with business supply managers and category managers for GSM-led cost reductions that affect the plant.
  • Develops strategies and ensures plans are executed to assure supply of raw materials, packaging, consumables, spare parts, and other various MRO equipment for the plant’s 24x7 continuous flow manufacturing process.
  • Works with the plant, business, and GSM to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions.
  • Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria Conducts negotiations with potential and/or current suppliers to obtain maximum value (cost, quality, delivery).
  • Responsible for Inventory Management by organizing, controlling, and minimizing materials on hand, including addressing slow moving and obsolete materials.
  • Manages Integrated Storeroom solution.
  • Develops and cultivates collaborative working relationships with suppliers.
  • Owns relationship management for assigned suppliers including performance measurement and corrective action processes.
  • Provides procurement leadership and support to enable plant IAP initiatives.
  • Develops annual budgets for the plant’s procurement function that include expense, capital, and headcount requirements.
  • Execution of government small business reporting requirements for government contracts working collaboratively with key commercial team members.
  • Site champion for RTP processes.
  • Co-lead for Contractor Safety Team.
  • Point of escalation in plant for GSM related challenges.
  • Provides guidance to direct reports.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business concentration (Supply Chain Management, Business Admin./Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management: strategic sourcing/procurement, demand/supply planning, inventory management, transportation/logistics, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience as a plant or corporate buyer
  • Experience with supply chain planning, procurement, and inventory management systems such as PeopleSoft/PRISM, SAP, Ariba, or similar
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or similar accredited certifications
  • Understanding of SOX compliance

 

 

Location/Schedule Requirements:

  • Canton, NY
  • 1st shift schedule with evening conference calls as required and plant weekend safety team coverage (1-3 weekends per year)

The range for this position is $107,883.00 - $148,340.00.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
