Role Purpose
Provide technical leadership to engineering team in support of continuous improvement in process, cost reduction, quality, development and production improvement efforts while driving accountability and monitoring progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign objectives and projects to direct reports. Provide guidance on project priority to ensure direct reports are focused on the appropriate project if conflicts arise.
- Prioritize project work and provide capital budget recommendations
- Ownership of the plant’s cost reduction portfolio.
- Coach and mentor engineering personnel as appropriate to build and leverage skill sets to enhance effectiveness of engineering group.
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff. Plan for succession.
- Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects.
- Manage working relationships across functional groups to accomplish business objectives
- Define process limitations based on current equipment and process capabilities.
- Develop strategies aimed at achieving manufacturing performance targets for both new and existing processes.
- Develop strategies for increased material utilization.
- Leverage available resource skill sets around the division and company in areas of technology, quality, and division engineering.
- Interface with and support Development and Plant engineering on new product and process introductions, raw material changes, and equipment design changes.
- Apply DMAIC principles to achieve project objectives.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years experience in technical / engineering field
- Knowledge of Problem Solving tools, such as: DMAIC, MEE, error proofing, KT.
- Strong technical abilities and experience
- Strong demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong soft skills as: persuasion, negotiation, influencing, leadership, people development
- Results orientated and high commitment
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and high levels of uncertainty and change
- Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries
- Process improvement experience
- Presentation skills

The range for this position is $146,918.00 - $202,013.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
