Corning Incorporated is hiring a Quality Engineer at our Canton, NY manufacturing site. This is a full-time onsite role that typically works Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility as needed. U.S. citizenship is required for this position. Travel is expected to be limited. Relocation assistance is available.
Join a quality team that supports advanced manufacturing in a highly technical, specification-driven environment. In this role, you will help ensure products meet quality and compliance requirements, investigate product and process issues, and drive improvements across plant quality systems and manufacturing operations. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams and is a strong fit for someone who enjoys solving problems, working cross-functionally, and taking a hands-on approach to quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily plant quality activities to ensure products meet specifications, standards, and customer requirements
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities for product and process quality issues
- Analyze quality data, metrics, and trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce defects
- Support new product introduction activities by developing quality plans, inspection methods, and validation requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, procedures, and standards
- Conduct internal audits and support external, customer, and regulatory audits as needed
- Collaborate with Product Engineering and plant teams to resolve quality issues and support customer-facing discussions when needed
- Program and operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) as needed
- Write experiment plans, document findings, and prepare quality reports and recommendations for management
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured problem-solving methods, and serve as backup to the Plant Quality Manager as needed
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related role
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methods such as Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, Control Plans, 8D, and First Article Inspection
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and other stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- CMM programming experience
- Experience supporting audits, compliance requirements, and quality improvement activities
- Experience working across teams, vendors, and multiple stakeholders in a plant setting
- Ability to work effectively in a union environment with minimal supervision

The range for this position is $91,649.00 - $126,018.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
