Role Purpose

Supports Senior Counsel on legal matters within assigned Center of Excellence (COE), division, sub-division or region. Works independently to achieve operational targets with direct impact on department results. May manage a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation. Focus is on establishing short-term operational plans

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of legal activities in less complex legal aspects to protect Coring’s legal and business interests and mitigate legal risks
  • Reviews, drafts, executes contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation related to a variety of legal matters including commercial, financial, and operational issues
  • Researches, analyzes, and interprets laws and regulations to understand impact on COE
  • Prepares and reviews materials for senior counsel or external legal counsel
  • Works closely with other legal counsel and COE’s when specialized knowledge within a specific legal discipline when required
  • Conducts work with a global mindset to support the Law function and Corning; collaborates across diverse cultures

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior counsel to provide key stakeholders in assigned sub-division, division, region or COE
  • Experience researching and interpreting laws to understand impact on an assigned sub-division, division, region or COE’s operations
  • Experienced in a variety of routine legal activities to protect business interests and minimize risks for a given sub-division, division, region or COE
  • Ability to report out on a variety of legal transactions
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and willingness to escalate issues to senior counsel
  • Experience drafting, executing contracts/agreements and other legal documents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A law degree from law school with top academic performance; licensed to practice law within assigned area
  • 2-5 years experience practicing law

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Successfully manages small projects or elements of cross-functional projects
  • Experience creating and delivering communications/ presentations for the training and development of internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with partners across other divisions, geographies and/or COEs with oversight as needed
  • Ability to collaborate and provide feedback to team members

The range for this position is $156,339.00 - $214,967.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
