The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Role Purpose
- Reporting to the Service Owner of Collaboration, the Collaboration Engineer is a senior technology leader that will function as SME for collaboration technologies, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office 365. This role will function as an enabler across IT Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Information Security, Data Privacy, Strategic partners, Technology vendors and Project management teams to facilitate the successful delivery of complex Corning initiatives and priorities.
- Responsibility will include strategy, design and implementation efforts to enable Corning’s Collaboration services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Power Apps, Power Automate etc.
- Responsibility will also include enabling process and technology readiness, critical to support global migration and enablement of M365 services.
- As a core member of the collaboration services, this person will be responsible for helping direct and guide the delivery of key priorities across multiple stakeholders, with the assistance of the Project Manager and Technical Support teams. While being predominantly internally focused, this position will require strong communication to bridge between various Information Security, Data Privacy, Infrastructure and Application teams as well as an excellent ability to navigate within a background of relative ambiguity.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer cloud solutions for user collaboration using OneDrive, SharePoint Online, MS Teams, and other O365 solutions
- Assess on-prem implementations of SharePoint and provide technical advice and consultation to develop a migration plan
- Assist in developing a migration strategy including selection of required tools
- Design and configure SharePoint online environment and related toolsets
- Create and integrate automated governance solutions to enforce usage policies and make it easy to provision, consume and manage our services
- Plan, design and execute migration of on-premise Home Drives, SharePoint sites and other content to M365
- Integrate cloud and on-premise solutions to provide a unified hybrid user experience as needed
- Provide escalated support for migration related technical issues and other business-critical incidents and problems. Must possess a strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency to resolve critical technical issues
- Work in different roles across the solution lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, integration, development, testing, support, etc.) and assist with projects driven by business and service line demand, monitor system performance, provide technical support and guidance to other administrators.
- Maintain platform security by actively identifying and remediating faults and vulnerable areas within the system’s design and architecture in a timely fashion
- Establishes standards, policies & guidelines for the Collaboration Platform in collaboration with service line owner and technology teams
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Computer Engineering or an equivalent technical degree
- Microsoft certifications SharePoint Online
- 5+ years of experience with SharePoint Online including successfully migrating large on-prem implementations to online.
- 7+ years of experience in system administration, with a focus on Exchange, Teams, Skype and other messaging or chat tools
- 7+ years of experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting services and cloud infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, SharePoint Online, Exchange on-premise and Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook Client, Intune, Azure AD Conditional Access, F5 load balancing and related concepts, ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
- Well experienced in Microsoft 365 tenant administration.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2016 environments and the underlying technologies
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Architecture skills, ability to think conceptually
- Experience with creating and maintaining application and infrastructure services.
- Project management skills
- Experience with ID Access Manager technologies like NetIQ, Okta etc.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Mobile Device Management (MDM) concepts and tools
- Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts (IDAM)

The range for this position is $108,814.00 - $149,620.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
