Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

The Communications Intern will be responsible for supporting the Corning Optical Communications’ (COC) communications team for the summer of 2026. They will play a critical role in shaping COC’s narrative – both internally and externally – ensuring consistency and fostering positive relationships with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective communications to support Corning Optical Communications as the business continues in a high-growth period.
  • Write, edit, and distribute engaging and informative content, including newsletters, blogs, emails, intranet articles, presentations, and speeches.
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure consistency of messages.
  • Support communications for events such as townhalls, leadership forums, and employee recognition events.
  • Ensure communications materials align with Corning’s brand guidelines to maintain a consistent brand standard.
  • Work as part of COC’s communications team to ensure a cohesive communications approach on messaging and overall business strategy.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant fields.
  • Experience (collegiate level) with school news organizations or prior internships in communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistent and accurate messaging.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
