Scope of Position:

The Data Lead is responsible for leading the successful design and delivery of SAP Data Migration activities for Corning. The candidate will help define strategies, develop and deliver solutions that enable the collection, cleansing and loading of information from one or more sources into SAP MDG and S/4. This position provides leadership and key input of the Data Migration objectives and policies, procedures. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring alignment to an enterprise data governance framework and for operationalizing data migration processes and practices across IT and Business/Functional area levels, to achieve the required level of governance, consistency, quality of data needed to meet overall business needs. This role will be a key position that supports Corning’s multi-year ERP transformation which has data management as a critical component. Remote work opportunities will be considered for the right candidate and/or relocation to Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY.


Primary Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of and standardize data structures, attributes, taxonomies and needed governance for data migration across multiple domains, systems, operating units, in agreement with Corning long-term business applications strategy

• Develop, test, and deploy data migration services and offerings for profiling, cleansing, rationalizing and loading legacy ERP data into SAP S/4 and MDG.

• Evaluate and implement new data management technologies and software engineering tools (automation projects, process improvements, etc.) to improve data quality and health

• Educate business and operations teams on data stewardship and data migration best practices by providing needed exception reports, analytics, and continuous process improvement recommendations

• Oversee the documentation and design business process flows for governance and data migration

• Provide oversight into data, data systems, and process improvements required to supervise and improve data quality

• Define key performance indicators for quality and compliance metrics to ensure data related policies and standards are followed and being embraced, and provide a data readiness scorecard

• Identifies areas for data quality improvements and helps to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.

• Acts as a focal point to explain all facets of data migration, business process, and architecture acting as a liaison between Business Partners and Technology teams


Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or appropriate combination of education and experience in crucial duties and responsibilities


Work Experience:

• 5+ years relevant work experience, with 3+ years’ experience in data management/migration.

• 3+ Years of experience extracting, cleansing, and loading data or related function. Experience with SAP MDM/MDG Solutions, Master data and governance a plus

• Experience working with SAP FI/CO, MM, SD or PM and Master Data, required.

• Experience in complex SAP environments supporting multiple components preferred.

• Experience in data migration strategies, processes, and governance including definition of data types, functional views, attributes, fields values, status, etc.

• Ability to organize, analyze, and produce complex data evaluation and recommendations using tools such as Microsoft Excel (pivot tables,) and/or Access

• Experience providing a consolidated view of data for analysis and decision-making purposes

• Participated, contributed, and delivered systems implementations as a Process Owner or Subject Matter Experts in a data domain

• Ability to exercise independent judgement

• Comfort working in an agile development lifecycle and tools such as Jira Rally, and Trello

• Experience working with 3rd party system integrators or implementation partners General Qualifications: The Data Lead will be an overall effective communicator.
