The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

Role Purpose:

Ensures that Corning Optical Fiber & Cable (OFC) division has a robust global supply base that is cost competitive, minimizes risk, optimizes inventory and complies with the Global Buying Policy. Collaborates with business leadership (manufacturing, development, supply chain and commercial) on development and execution of supply strategy, including sourcing, transportation, trade compliance and Global Supply Management (GSM) services. Leverages global spend across Corning businesses and optimizes GSM global resources within OFC to ensure best cost and performance for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops global supply strategy which includes contract manufacturing, direct and indirect material strategies, capital, and manufacturing sourcing requirements, along with delivering product to the customer on time, at the lowest total cost and highest value.
  • Aligns long-term plans with cross functional partners (Development, Quality, Division Engineering, Finance, Commercial and Manufacturing).
  • Serves as a facilitator between the division and the corporate Global Supply Management function. Leverages corporate resources and services to deliver value in the business.
  • Participates as a member of the business leadership team as well as the GSM function’s Leadership Forum.
  • Delivers GSM global objectives in alignment with the business vital few.
  • Manages the overall organizational strategy, identifying key resource needs.
  • Develops annual cost reduction plans and long-term strategy. Integrates with the business cost reduction portfolio process.
  • Manages a supplier relationship program which delivers high quality product to the customer with low cost, high yield and high value for Corning. Ensures critical suppliers and/or outsourcers are under supplier management process.
  • Responsible for performance of contract manufacturing sourcing which includes cost, on-time delivery, quality, and inventory.
  • Leads capital procurement to drive capital cost avoidance, optimize capital incentives and ensure timely delivery of capacity.
  • Ensures all business relationships follow appropriate corporate policy and governance requirements (contract, preferred suppliers, payment terms, pricing, etc.).
  • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related especially to purchasing or any other certification (if applicable).
  • Ensures business complies with global trade compliance regulations.
  • Protects Intellectual Property (IP) and ensures compliance.
  • Ensures learning and development plans are in place.
  • Travel required 30% ± 10%

Experiences/Education:


Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Business or Supply Chain).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
  • Experience with procurement and supply chain processes and systems.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
  • Experience in frontline or mainstream business experience.
  • Willingness to travel globally.
  • Has worked globally (experience working in a global organization and managing people in a global business).


Desired

  • Master’s in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience establishing contract manufacturing supply chains
  • Experience across multiple businesses, division and/or technologies.
  • Experience with global manufacturing and business through work, project experience or expatriate assignment.
  • Procurement and/or transportation experience.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply
  • Management (CPSM), APICS or certification related to Supply Chain.
  • LEAN or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
  • Multi-lingual (English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish)

The range for this position is $191,734.00 - $263,634.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
