The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Director - Global Network Services will lead the network service strategies and operations at all Corning locations through all stages of service lifecycle. You will collaborate with business and Digital and IT leaders to ensure the network strategy and services meet the business needs, scale with business growth, support the impact of AI and Digital initiatives, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency. You will supervise the global data network team across multiple countries, in a multi-vendor environment. This position reports to the Division Vice President – Global Infrastructure.

 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Responsible for organizations which provide the design, development, testing, implementation and ongoing support of WAN, LAN, WLAN, IoT, SDN, Core Routing functions to support a secure, scalable, supportable, and sustainable Corning network environment around the globe.
  • Ensures Corning’s networks and the organizations that support them not only meet Corning’s needs today but take full advantage of the speed and agility next-gen Network technologies enable for the future.
  • Establish service strategies for each network service line which optimize investment for value yield, improving the scalability, stability, and security of services through currency and consistency.
  • Build strong, credible, and influential business partnerships to enable and drive change with key stakeholders. Fosters an environment of collaboration and teamwork between IT organizations and between IT and business teams to ensure creation of “best in class” Technology support for Corning.
  • Champions the Network strategies and roadmaps jointly developed by the Architects and Service Lines, leads and orchestrates across the service lines and owners the implementation of the defined roadmap that includes plans for expansions, modifications, maintenance, retirement, etc.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Computer science or related field. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field a plus.
  • ITIL foundation certification a plus.
  • Applicable Network Certifications a plus.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • 10+ years of experience managing implementation and/or management of large-scale data networks, including global enterprise class experience with three or more of the following: Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Data Networks (WLAN), Core Routing, and Transport Network Design.
  • 10+ years of experience with IT service delivery management, including direct management oversight of external Supplier delivery, in a multi-vendor, large complex environment with a global footprint (>$30M), ideally in the manufacturing industry.
  • 10+ years of experience in directly managing a global data network team for a large organization (>50 people) in a multi-country, multi-vendor environment.
  • Understanding of best-in-class and emerging technologies such of Software Defined Networks (SDWAN/SDN), Internet of Things (IoT) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
  • Extensive experience in vendor interaction, negotiation and management, particularly in telecom and carrier management

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience managing managers, designing, and delivering network technologies, including SDWAN, SASE, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Data Networks (WLAN), Core Routing, Transport.
  • Proven track record directly and successfully delivering network data network functions for multiple global organizations in a multi-country, multi-vendor environment.
  • Experience working across technology disciplines, partnering at a senior leader level with peers in compute, storage, security, and regulatory/oversight organizations to build an engaged and meshed leadership team which delivers exceptional services.
  • Solid experience leading and building talent, identifying creative and innovative thinking leaders with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to help drive solution fulfillment. Proven history as a self-starter with ability to coordinate and motivate cross-functional and distributed teams.
  • Strong ability to matrix lower-level managers, network engineers and vendor SMEs to deploy network technologies, leveraging in-house skills as well as external network experts, and guide organizations through significant network technology shifts.

 

 

LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Based in either Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY
  • Up to 25% travel, domestic and international

The range for this position is  $196,663.00 - $270,412.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
