Role Purpose

The Director will design and implement SOX controls as needed to ensure successful implementation of business finance programs, processes and procedures that support the function, the business strategy and objectives.  In addition, this role has the responsibility to prevent, monitor, and resolve internal control deficiencies within Corning Optical Communication worldwide.  The individual will develop and provide training, participate in staff development as well as individual coaching throughout Corning Optical Communications many functions. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee internal controls compliance for a large global enterprise
  • Develop strategies for coordinating, administering, and controlling financial operations
  • Is a member of the leadership team for both Finance and the Division as a whole and considered a valuable resource.  Provides direction to the accounting functions and ensures alignment to established processes as well as to short and long-term financial objectives
  • Monitors the effectiveness of financial and process controls required to maintain reporting requirements. 
  • Leads and oversees compliance activities (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and communicates potential exposures to leadership, with actionable recommendations
  • Leads the quarterly COC certification process that is reported to the Corporate Internal Controls Director for inclusion in the SOX certification signed by the CFO and CEO
  • Division Liaison for Corporate Internal Controls, external and internal auditors
  • Is accountable for internal control and U.S. GAAP audits and performs associated risk assessments for the Division as well as contributes to the annual corporate assessment
  • Develops and delivers training on Corning policies and internal control structure in addition to ad hoc manufacturing/technical accounting topics
  • Develops written reports and presentations to communicate to leadership on special technical topic project assignments to help define project goals and report out on progress, issues, and resolutions.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • 10+ years of audit or audit related work experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience executing a range of internal audit procedures and risk assessments, producing reports and insights based on results
  • Experience designing and validating proposed improvements to new and existing audit processes, standards and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to execute internal controls testing and synthesize results into actionable improvements and reports
  • Experience in creating and delivering presentations for internal learning, functional events and/or business discussions.
  • Travel Requirements:
    Up to 25%

The range for this position is $181,530.00 - $249,604.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
