Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
An event specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events at Corning Optical Communications Headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. Primary role is to ensure that events align with company goals, branding, and desired outcomes, while adhering to budgets, timelines, and expectations. Goal is to deliver a seamless and memorable experience for attendees.
The position reports to the Communications Director, Corning Optical Communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing events at Charlotte headquarters, including being the main point of contact for internal teams, external vendors, and event stakeholders.
- Support includes reserving conference rooms, catering, organizing audio/visual equipment, visitor registration, transportation, and lodging.
- Coordinating with internal groups (Employee Resource Groups) and Communications for promoting internal events.
- Monitor and evaluate event success by tracking key performance metrics, including attendee satisfaction, budget adherence, and post-event feedback. Prepare and present reports with actionable insights to stakeholders, and implement improvements for future events.
- The role serves as a concierge to visitors.
- Events include, and are not limited to:
- Employee Resource Groups
- Quarterly Business Communications
- Charlotte holiday lunches and special events
- Annual CHOICES STEM event for local middle school students
- External stakeholder visits – Board of Directors, groundbreaking/grand opening (plants), Investor Relations
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in event management or relevant fields.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in corporate event planning
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to promoting brand integrity

The range for this position is $70,350.00 - $96,732.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
