Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

Develop and execute communications plans to support Corning Optical Communications’ business objectives, through an understanding of market strategies and communications best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic B2B communication plans for commercial applications in the Americas, including fiber to the home, data center and in-building networks -- in line with integrated marketing plans.
  • Draw on deep understanding of business goals, product knowledge, market dynamics and customer needs.
  • Bring the communications plans to life through key message development, news announcements, earned-media outreach, blog content, social media and trade show activities.
  • Partner with marketing teams to ensure message and brand alignment with marketing-led activations such as webinars and paid media.
  • Draft key messages, news announcements, Q&As and other external content. Edit and pitch bylined articles as needed.
  • Oversee planning, content coordination and promotion for The Signal blog, including writing and editing, leveraging internal and external resources and tracking performance against annual goals.
  • Drive trade media engagement, including distributing news announcements, pitching interview opportunities and bylines, and responding to incoming queries.
  • Draft social media content to amplify news announcements, blogs, earned media coverage and other communications-led activations.
  • Work with external communications agencies to ensure successful execution of communications strategies.
  • Track and measure social media and earned media engagement using analytical tools, including Google analytics and Sprinklr.
  • Oversee internal communication channels for sales, marketing and customer-care teams, providing details about product launches and other commercial information.
  • Coordinate with global counterparts to share best practices, leveraging communications collateral and/or resources where appropriate.
  • Draft strategic customer-facing communications as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in business or organizational communications. B2B communication experience a plus.
  • Outstanding English-language skills, with ability to write and edit in accurate, business-like style.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Social media capabilities and basic platform understanding (how to create post, monitor, and measure content and engagement).
  • Basic proficiency in photo editing and desktop publishing is a plus.
  • Excellent critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines with consistency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Executive presence and composure under pressure.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work both in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently with little supervision.
  • A strong working knowledge of traditional and emerging media and content platforms.
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable communication.
  • Clear understanding of how to reach disparate stakeholder audiences through targeted messaging and effective use of communications tools.

The range for this position is $61,320.00 - $84,315.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
