Scope of Position:
Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW), one of the world’s leading innovators in material science, is seeking a Manager – Tax Accounting & Reporting, International to aide in the expansion of the Company’s Tax Operations group.
This position is based primarily in Charlotte, NC and will be reporting to the Senior Manager – Tax Accounting and Reporting, Tax Operations.
In this role, the Manager of International Tax Accounting & Reporting will primarily be responsible for overseeing and supporting processes around the preparation of Corning’s Non-US and global tax provisions, tax forecasts, tax accounting, and financial statement disclosures while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
The International Tax Accounting & Reporting Manager will also have an important role to play in supporting Corning’s efforts to streamline and automate its tax processes and procedures.
The company is in the process of developing and implementing its overall long-range technology strategy, and this individual will be part of the team supporting these efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Calculate the forecasted annual effective tax rate and tracking of discrete items on a quarterly basis for foreign subsidiaries as required under ASC740 standards. This will include managing the foreign income tax account roll forward and reconciliation process.
- Review of quarterly income tax provision packages submitted for material foreign legal entities. Provide training as needed to ensure accurate and timely completion of these packages.
- Research, document, model, and communicate proposed and/or enacted tax legislation and their impact on the global ETR (including Pillar 2).
- Assist with the continued enhancement of OneSource Tax Provision (OTP).
- Interface with external auditors (PWC) to support and defend current position, including management of the tax department’s internal controls process and documentation.
- Support transfer pricing, controversy, and audits including gathering documentation for IDR requests.
- Support tax planning on key strategic initiatives.
- Partner with other finance leaders in our Analytical Services (FP&A) and our Technical Accounting (Controller’s) groups to obtain the necessary data and to provide the tax analysis required to support Senior Management and GAAP and non-GAAP financial forecasting and reporting.
- Establish and drive tax strategies that optimize Corning's business strategies while at the same time deliver on company targets for effective and cash tax rates.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA/MST desirable but not required
- Minimum of five to eight years of corporate tax experience preferred, including one to three years of management experience with direct/indirect supervisory experience over multiple personnel.
Required Skills:
- Must have experience in ASC 740-Accounting for Income Taxes and SEC reporting, preferably a combination of public accounting and in-house experience. This includes experience with consolidating worldwide tax provisions, effective tax rate analysis, and ASC 740 specialty areas (i.e. purchase accounting, APB 23, interim periods, partnerships etc.).
- Must have strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex tax technical issues in a manner that can be understood by Foreign Controllers
- A proven leader in process improvement and automation/technology use.
- Strong tax technology skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) required.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Alteryx, Peoplesoft and/or SAP

The range for this position is $135,374.00 - $186,140.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
